Security, privacy, and how NoteMate works

AI-based tools like NoteMate make your clinical work easier. However, health information is highly sensitive. Ensuring it is respected is our priority and commitment.

The basics

NoteMate is a web-based application that runs in your browser. After allowing microphone permissions, you will be able to use NoteMate to capture audio recordings for the purposes of generating clinical documents. Documents can also be generated using text.

NoteMate uses the most trusted AI providers to transcribe (OpenAI) and generate (Anthropic) your clinical documents. As new models from OpenAI and Anthropic become available, NoteMate evaluates their performance and suitability for clinical documentation.

NoteMate works with any practice management software, allowing you to copy-and-paste your generated documents in a single click.

No clinical data is ever stored

NoteMate does not store any clinical data, ever. All clinical data is captured on your device, then temporarily sent to our AI providers for transcription and generation. The data is then returned directly to your device—it is not stored with NoteMate, or any third-party.

You are the only person who has access to your clinical data

Clinical data is exchanged directly to and from your device with our AI providers, so you are the only person that can access this information.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does NoteMate work locally, or send data to the cloud?

To provide high-quality transcription and document generation, your clinical data is processed in the cloud by OpenAI and Anthropic. Currently, AI processing on your local device is too resource intensive for most devices, but it is something that we will continue to consider as the technology improves.

Do your AI providers train using my data?

No, our agreements with OpenAI and Anthropic do not permit them to use your data to train their models.

Should I ask for consent when using NoteMate?

We suggest informing your clients/patients about using NoteMate for your clinical documentation.

Where is my data stored?

Your data is never stored, and is only temporarily available on your local device. This means that only you have access to the clinical documents that are generated.

What are your data retention policies?

Your clinical data is never retained by NoteMate, and is only available temporarily on your device. When you generate a document with NoteMate, the document is available in your browser window until you leave or refresh the page.
